    Btw, Owen, his name is Stefan Eriksson. Bo Eriksson is a famed swedish tv-personality.



    He is also noteworthy for being a ringleader for organized crime, as well as participating in reality-show where he earned the nickname "Tjock-Steffe", which for some reason is translated to "Fat Steve" in english, according to Wikipedia.

    "The slammer" is slang, so it would be something like "kåken" (lit. "the house" kind of) or "finkan" ;)

    For a minute there I thought that said "Gizmodo" and this was an article to rub it in their faces or something. I always imagine a kind of Animal House-like rivalry between the blogs, where you go and pull hijinks and then run away while they shake their fists and go "KOTAKUUUUU!"

    @n00b_pwner: I've never got my paws on a Gizmodo, but I remember my local Gamestation (British chain store) really betting on the N-gage.. They had two demo N-gages to play with a few games on them each.. I had a go on Tomb Raider and Tony Hawks.

    It was the worst thing ever.

    @1up: I remember actually being amazed at the time when the NGage released that it's games could rival PS1 games. Little did I know that the tech was actually mediocre in the system.



    Then the DS and PSP released the year after that (and got both systems at launch), and (thankfully), made me forget about the NGage.



    The lesson to be learned is is that if there is a system being released by a non-major company, expect it to fail badly due to lack of funding. That's how Microsoft and Sony succeeded for the most part with their consoles.

    @n00b_pwner: back at the time I was trying to make my boss let me develop for this POS handheld. Windows OS (the best in mobiles for developers), 3D accel, lots of RAM. He tried, and after a while replied "No".


    Later, we find-out the PDA would show ads onscreen even if you paid for the games; and getting the SDK had some high price. (they didn't really want 3rd parties to develop for this stuff)


    Thus, on the day of its release we partied for not wasting resources on this platform. It could never have serious games for it, we wondered why this decision. Then the news about the Enzo came...

    @Dustin Triplett: I were thinking the same thing...


    The problem that I see here is that you already have a lock with two major software/hardware developers/publishers/machine churners, and with the stigma that Gizmondo 1 has with it, (Think the full effect of seeing and smelling hot garbage on a hot July afternoon on the Hudson River.), and you get the idea of what kind of trainwreck this thing is going to be.


    Besides... Windows CE? What are they stoned? (Yeah, I remember the Android part, but I still am not sold on it being a solid gaming/phone alternative.


    I see this as a $150 paperweight.
